We use BambooHR as a time tracker and HR document hub where documents are sent out for signature and uploaded to include in employee files. We run payroll and track benefits through this software as well. We use the report features to calculate costs, engage employees, and collect data. We post links to other pertinent sites and celebrate birthdays and anniversaries.

We use BambooHR as the primary record system for our employees. They are onboarded through BambooHR, and then that information is pushed into Microsoft Azure/Entra via a superb tool (AutoIDM https://www.linkedin.com/company/autoidm/ ). All the pertinent fields we want for each employee, including department, titles, etc, are synchronized from BambooHR into Microsoft Azure/Entra. When staff change positions, locations, titles etc, that updated information is synchronized into Microsoft Azure/Entra via AutoIDM. When staff are offboarded, those accounts in Microsoft Azure/Entra are disabled via AutoIDM.

I think it is best suited for a company's system of record.   • Everything is in one place (performance and goals are attached to the employee profile along with the signed offer letter, documents, etc.).
  • Responsive customer service.
  • The performance feature is a little clunky and not adjustable, so I would love to have more customizable options.
  • When a candidate signs an offer letter, it would be great if it could show up under the documents tab. Right now, it gets a little buried.
Bamboo excels at keeping Hiring and onboarding clear and organized. I never had formal training, but I was able to figure out how to use Bamboo! I love the customizable features of onboarding packets and candidate emails.

This is our first HR automated system. We reviewed several systems and picked Bamboo. Easy to use and has a ton of features. Plus the managers and leaders of our organization have found it helpful. Applicants find it an easy way to communicate with the hiring manager.

  • I would like to see a forwarding of the applicants to managers instead of downloading the resume and then sending it.
There is an easy-to-use central place to store all employee documents and a way to share them with the employee when appropriate. The reminder of anniversary dates is a great motivational tool for the company. Sometimes, applicants who try to send a resume by phone are an issue. It needs to be more phone-friendly.

We have been using BambooHR for a while now. We started with only using the basics of BambooHR and then added the time tracking, eNPS, and the performance management part all to be followed by the payroll part of BambooHR. When we added payroll specifically, we noticed how much easier it was to coordinate the deductions of benefits and all the time tracking pieces into our payroll process. We went from payroll taking 4 hours every other week to doing payroll in about 30 mins to an hour. We definitely feel like we are more efficient with our time now. We are an organization of 72 people and doing anything manually is just not useful. By adding the performance management, we are now able to track to make sure that employee reviews are happening within the organization. Overall we have been very happy with BambooHR and the ability to have everything in one place. It's an easy login for our employees and managers which makes HR's job even better.

Using payroll and the time tracking system is a huge piece to using BambooHR successfully. It is a great way to ease the burden that payroll can have on HR. Everything is already in the system and there is no need to manually enter something on a spreadsheet or another system. Some of the new features that BambooHR recently released doesn't seem to be all that great, like the employee community, most companies already make use of Teams, Slack, or other platforms like that. We have no use to add another place to have announcements or communications when we are already bombarded with posts. The Benefits administration side was not helpful in what we needed but maybe it is for other organizations. Total rewards is another new feature that seems very confusing and not sure how it is supposed to work.

BambooHR is our core HRIS, we use to capture all payroll information, process starters and leavers, benefits, including opt-ins and opt-outs, capturing all of our HR analytics for reporting across the business. We also use the time tracking feature for our Spanish employees, as well as basic employee data management and employee management.

  • BambooHR is very manual and relies heavily on admin involvement, an example of this is assigning holiday policies to new joiners which have to be added manually and cannot be done based off access levels.
  • Data quality- there is not enough function in BambooHR to assist with data quality, for example linking division and department to each other so that when a division is selected only department in this division can be chosen.
  • The response from BambooHR when asking for new features or advice is often this is a great idea we will pass on to our development team but we never see anything implemented. When updates are made to BambooHR they are often not useful, such as recent changes to time off that has zero benefit rather than anything value add.
  • Reporting features are limited and often require manipulation. The dashboards on the homepage are not accurate and cannot be filtered
  • Access level set up is over complicated
  • For issues that seem like there should be an easy solution in BambooHR there often is not which means we have to spend lots of time coming up with solutions, an example of this is flexible bank holidays
  • Re-hires can't be sent a new hire packet which creates a manual process
  • Signature set up is very difficult and hard to make documents look professional due to text size
Maybe suited for a smaller company but difficult to manage higher volumes of data- linked to examples given previously. Relies heavily on manual processes and no functionality in place to assist with data quality. Easy for employees to use but limited functionality for admins and not much flexibility in set up.

I use BambooHR to request time off and track time off. For the Company, I track, download or print documents for the staff files, especially when onboarding new staff. I sometimes search for 1st day/hire date or staff Birthdays.

  • Scheduling/sending interview meetings with candidates has to be done through Outlook. Bamboo doesn't have the capabilities, or the time zone conversion for scheduling interviews with people in other time zones.
  • Bamboo doesn't have a module for entering work schedules for employees.
  • It would be great if Bamboo could categorize time off. For example, when I approve hours, it only lists "Time Off", whereas the employee could be using Holiday pay or Birthday pay and not actual PTO hours.
My rating is based on the Pros and Cons of the last few questions.

We use BambooHR for all our HR processes. Some business problems solved are the onboarding process taking too long and inefficiencies. Digital signatures have been great for tracking all documentation required for compliance. Also, we reduced delays for performance reviews, and now all managers have access to employee information that is important, such as certificates, training, or others.

Less appropriate is for small companies that do not have a champion to lead the software or maybe bigger companies with specific requirements and HR processes.

We use BambooHR for HRIS and time tracking. We currently have about 47 employees, 10 of which use the time tracking feature. This has been a solve for recording time tracking among our hourly folks, however, it does not flow into our payroll system. We use BambooHR for ATS, which in turns stores our offer letter and hiring information once we bring a new employee on board. We use the onboarding function to send our new folks their forms prior to their first day, it's great that it auto-saves these into the employee's online folders. In HR, I heavily rely on BambooHR for reporting, especially for pay, history, and EEO information. Myself and the executive team also use this for reminders of birthdays and anniversary, a fun and essential feature.

  • Reporting - I wish that you could choose a timeframe for all reports. There are times when I need to run a report for information at a point in time, but there is no functionality to complete this (maybe this is an add-on, but seems like it should be a basic function.)
  • ATS - Customizable notifications and making it easier to figure out how to change notification/email settings. I figured it out, but it was difficult to find. I wish you could choose to notify managers of candidates 1/week instead of every time someone applies.
  • Custom Holidays - being able to set up 2 different Holiday policies for different working groups. Some of our team gets a floating holiday, but we can't set that up without doing it for the entire company.
  • Being able to intercept a form that was signed by an employee but not the 2nd signer. We can't access onboarding forms that new hires signed after the 2nd signer left the company. Now we have to have our team resign all their onboarding forms because we cannot access the one with their signature.
  • Delegation for approvals - being able to delegate this when someone is on leave or time away so that Admins don't have to manage.
  • Org chart - being able to customize this feature
  • More broad or customizable EEO categories
I think if you are a small/mid-size company looking for an easy to navigate HRIS system, BambooHR is a great start. It's mostly intuitive for Admins, managers and employees, as a first time HRIS admin, I have had a good experience learning on this platform. If someone is looking for something that is ultra-customizable, I think they are likely better going with a different system. While BambooHR has a ton of basics, it is lacking a fully robust or customizable experience. I still think it's great, but it has limitations.

  • The employee engagement module is lacking. There should be a mechanism to build staff engagement surveys.
Using the ATS across multiple departments is ideal. The payroll system for a company that has international offices is not as appropriate.

We use BambooHR as our HRIS. It stores all employee data as well as being our Applicant Tracking system for recruitment. BambooHR allows us to be sure that the data we are using to run our reports is accurate. it also allows us to provide senior management with up to date, reliable information on which to base decisions. BambooHR is also used to track our employees hours worked which is a requirement of our local employment legislation. We also use the eSignature forms which are very useful.

Managing employee documentation, team announcements, vacation policies and managing vacation time, birthdays, onboarding and offboarding, it is an amazing tool! We used to send documents via email and the reply of important info via email, to then have to download and put in a share file or company folder, was a hassel, this really help me as the HR, to have a tool that did all electronically and has a place for each employee, system does filing accordingly per employee, I just love!

The product helps address where we track and safe keep employee information.We also the utilize the system as our Payroll system and up to date employee information is stored in BambooHR. BambooHR is not our only people system but it is our primary system and is a great place for employees to have access to their information too.

We use BambooHR as our main HRMS, which includes onboarding, offboarding, hiring, reporting, performance, eNPS, time off, time tracking, etc. Overall, we are very happy with it; the system has helped us to digitize lots of processes, save us time, and offer a better employee experience. Also, the support team is super responsive.

We use BambooHR to house all employee personnel files, list jobs, send offer letters, onboard new hires and offboarding of terminated employees. BambooHR is also used to maintain out PTO and leave policies. Employees use BambooHR to request time off, change their addresses, and find company files. We also send out announcements using the announcement functions.

We got BambooHR to help with PTO tracking instead of using an excel spreadsheet and hoping people would turn in the paperwork for using their time. Now with our accrual PTO, it's easy for our employees to ask for time off and they clearly can see how many hours of PTO they have along with using a calculator to determine how many hours they will have at a certain point in the year.

  • Ability of information from a file to change job, ex: offer letter of compensation change to then update compensation under job.
It is very good for what we intentionally got the program for, but with diving deeper into what the program could do for us and doesn't have the ability to do, yet, I'm unable to state 10. It would be great for templates to be added with a generic offer letter with an eSignature that can update the employee record more than adding the document into the signed document folder. Love the time off and that with time tracking, if someone messes up, and they do, I'm able to go behind and make the necessary adjustments.

Switching over to BambooHR has saved us so much time and more than that, energy! It is easy to use and they have amazing customer support. I would highly recommend BambooHR to anyone looking for a BETTER HRIS.

We use BambooHR as our general HR software; we initiate onboarding (through Greenhouse integration) and offboarding as a place to keep documents, route documents for signature, and time tracking. We also use it to document the start of the performance year as well as the end of a performance year. We also use it as a place to track various time off categories.

  • We use a different software to process payroll, a PEO.
  • There is no integration of these two softwares.
  • Allow approval of timesheets prior to closure of time period.
I love the workflows for documents and signatures. We use this quite often, such as for benefits requests, payroll deductions, etc. I also think it has a beautiful workflow for onboarding and offboarding steps and allows these to be customized by a group of employees. We use BambooHR as our main HRIS to store employee information and applicant tracking system (ATS) to support the talent acquisition process. Additionally, we make use of their onboarding module, time off management, and metrics reporting.
  • User friendly
  • Easy to customize reports
  • Easily able to see who's out of office across the organization
  • Right now, the new hire introduction emails are automatically sent out around 3AM ET on their first day - wish this time can be manually changed to something more work-life balance friendly, such as 7AM
BambooHR has been the most user-friendly and customizable HRIS and ATS that I've used. I can say it is my first time enjoying being the administrator of these systems.

We use BambooHR for time off request, org charts, tracking employee data, onboarding/off boarding, tracking training completion and more. It is the source of truth for our organization and heavily utizlied by all. We have also integrated it to our payroll system. Paylocity for easier pay updates and process imovement.

  • Consistent name structure for reporting (Headcount report is First Name Last Name but other reports are Last Name, First Name)
It does the job we were looking for it to do and is continually improving too. It is integrated with the systems we use - Okta, Lattice, Paylocity and more which makes everything more streamline and efficient. The platform looks good too - informing employees on work anniversaries and birthdays.
